Session Report – January 2024

With the New Year we have entered, new things are happening at Mountainview.

Drew Clifton has joined the leadership team as the new Community Outreach Coordinator. We welcome Drew and his family—his wife, Laura, and daughters, Jem (Jemimah) and Eli (Eleanor). Pray for them as they join us.

Mountainview has been planning a Small Groups focus and development, and this will be initiated on January 27 at 5 PM with a Potluck Supper, during which the leaders will be introduced and signup will begin.

Reformed churches have long held a more fully developed understanding of the Lord’s Supper than other traditions. Mountainview is preparing to take advantage of this divinely ordained sacrament by observing this community meal more often. Beginning in February, we will enjoy the Lord’s Supper on the first and the third Sundays of the month.

The Annual General Meeting is scheduled for February 25, 2024.

Thrive is planning a Meet & Greet evening on February 9 at 5 PM for the Thrive kids and their families, the Thrive staff, and the congregation of Mountainview. This will include a meal and activities. Everyone is welcome.

Membership Sunday is coming on February 4. In concurrence with this, a short class is planned for January 27, following the service, on Presbyterian church structure and polity.

It has been great to have Bob and Debi Cowan among us. They are planning to visit Honduras in February, where they ministered for several years. They will present part of their ministry there to provide uniforms for children to attend school. This is a requirement that poor families often cannot afford, and the Cowans wish to raise funds for uniforms for underprivileged children. We will find out more about Road to Roatan on January 21.

The monthly Hymn Sing is coming up on January 27.

And the Sunday School ministry is in need of teachers and helpers. Is God nudging you to be a part of this? Even part-time?
