Session Notes from its March Meeting

·        Rev. David Heath has agreed to assume the role of volunteer Pastor Emeritus at Mountainview, and will focus on connecting with people feeling isolated and lonely. He will be assisted by Peter Besel. David will initiate a weekly time of coffee and fellowship at the church on Wednesday mornings, called “Connect”. Peter will visit people in their homes who are unable to come and connect.

·        A Welcome Table has been placed at the entrance to the Narthex, and will be staffed weekly during worship services to answer questions worshippers may have.

·        Session approved the admission to membership of Brian Byrne.

·        Session reviewed the matter of children participating in Holy Communion. It was decided that children will continue to partake of the Communion elements, and will sit with their parents or grandparents when doing so. Children participating without parents present will sit with Children’s Ministry leaders. For children of non-believing parents, Children’s Ministry leaders will assess their readiness to partake of the elements. Once they are deemed ready, their parents will be approached to seek permission for their children to participate. Pastor Emery will create a pamphlet explaining the sacrament of Communion and make it available to those parents and at the Welcome table.
