Legacy Fund
What will your legacy be?
We are called to live a generous life, to be faithful stewards of the gifts God has given to us. Over time, generosity becomes a habit – and then a lifestyle. We don’t have to be millionaires to leave a legacy. A gift of any size, given in faith and entrusted to God, is a seed that grows. You can give a gift that will change lives today and support the missions of the church for generations to come!
The Mountainview Legacy Fund provides an opportunity for members and supporters of Mountainview Church to make bequests or gifts to the Church from accumulated assets, with the knowledge that these gifts will be used for the purpose you specify, in harmony with the goals and ministries of the Church and in Christ’s service. Planned gifts can be made through:
- Cash donations
- Wills and bequests
- Gifts of life insurance
- Gift annuities
- Publicly-traded securities
- Gifts of real estate
- Charitable remainder trusts
- Memorial gifts, donated in remembrance of a Mountainview church member.
Legacy Funds are used to support three areas where funding is not provided by the church’s annual budget: Mission and Outreach Services, Special Ministry Projects and Capital Projects. Donations designated for Capital Projects are directed to a portion of the Legacy Fund named The Lance Fund, in remembrance of Mr. Lance Secret, a long-time member, Elder and Chair of the Board of Managers at Mountainview.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Legacy funds were used to establish and expand Mountainview Church’s online presence with weekly services and bible studies on Facebook and YouTube, enabling church members and others to join us in prayer and celebration of God’s greatness when we were unable to worship together in person. As a result of this Legacy investment, even today our online reach continues to grow, with over 250 subscribers on YouTube and almost 650 following our weekly worship on Facebook.
Legacy funds from the Lance Fund were used in 2023 to support an urgent need for a storm drain system for the church property. Legacy funds were also used to renovate the church’s “Fireside Room” which hosts the church library and is used for meetings of Session and the Young Adults Group. Recently, the Lance Fund also funded a new retaining wall near the lower entrance facing Glenmore Road. Planned gifts are often used to support long-term ministry goals as well.
